The Project

Main Objectives

The BLUEMED project is a Coordination and Support Action, funded by the European Commission within the H2020 framework programme with 3 M€, aimed at supporting the implementation of the BLUEMED Initiative as a key policy reference for all actors of Blue Growth in the Mediterranean by promoting the update and implementation of the BLUEMED Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA), converting its outputs into actions.

Coordinated by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), leading a Consortium of 11 partners, this project has the privilege to set – for the first time in the whole Mediterranean Basin – the scene for the long-term effective coordination of marine and maritime research and innovation activities, consolidating networks and establishing mechanisms that will remain beyond the conclusion of the project. The four BLUEMED Platforms represent one key tool developed by the project to ensure constant dialogue and consultation with national stakeholders to reach the objectives of the BLUEMED Initiative.

The BLUEMED CSA will facilitate cooperation in all Mediterranean countries, in order to promote the alignment of Programmes and Strategies and pooling of resources and investments, creating the conditions for new opportunities to develop joint activities. Expected impacts include also an increased awareness of BLUEMED vision in communities of hundreds of people.
